infra sounds i think affect us, but we're not usually bombarded by them, unless you're talking about an industrial setting.

ultra-sounds probably affect cells in some way. some sounds, i think especially chaotic sounds that are loud, affect the cells in an adverse way, particularly intra-cellular communications. for example, living too close to traffic.

the police have developed weapons to disable people using infra-sounds, but they're not in popular use. they've done the same with weapons that use strange series of flashes of light..

human hearing ranges from about 20 hertz to 20,000 hertz, but that's only in totally healthy humans. most adults probably hear up to about 14,000 hertz.

some lower vibrations, if they're loud enough, may be able to be felt in the ear, even if they're not 'heard' per se.
